my favorite 4th of July recipe
Updated: Oct 12, 2018
I love all things red white & blue (#America!) and the 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays & moments of summer...this year I am lucky enough to be spending the holiday here in Hawaii, but when I was younger we grew up celebrating with all of my cousins and whether we were in Martha's Vineyard, a cottage on the Lake, or just watching fireworks from the top of hill somewhere in upstate NY, no matter where I am I love to celebrate freedom & our country (& supporting our troops who always keep us safe!).
If you know me you also know easy recipes are my favorite kind of recipes and it could not be any easier to make these...so you can spend more time celebrating the holiday and soaking in summer, sun & freedom.
*1 bottle of Coconut Water (i like harmless harvest because it is pink!)
*1 container of organic blueberries
* 1 container of organic strawberries
* popsicle sticks or popsicle molds
Slice up strawberries into thin slivers, and place into popsicle molds. Throw in blueberries on top, Pour in coconut water and garnish with a few more pieces of fruit. Freeze these pops for about an hour before placing in sticks, to ensure that they stand up straight. Once the sticks are in, allow pops to freeze overnight, and enjoy!!
These are so easy to make & if you use a stick you can draw stars or write down your favorite affirmations or mantras.....like "Be Free" or "Land of the Free home of the Brave..." or just whatever comes to mind.
I always like to eat things that are delicious and healthy like watermelon, berries, red white and blue smoothies with festive straws, coconut tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole, and my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie dough that is also paleo and gluten free...but I equally recommend treating yourself on holidays and not feeling guilty of "cheating".
For example. You can also use Rosè to make these pink if you don't use coconut water...I will not judge!! I honestly recommend treating yourself on holidays without ever feeling guilty...in addition to these and watermelon/berries I will probably also be eating a very not paleo pizza/taco dip...and Rosè...but I will also be detoxing thanks to Sakara after that...not because I feel like I need to...but because it just feels so much better listening to my body and eating foods I love...so stay tuned for more next week about my cleanse!
I feel like one of the reasons why I have always loved the 4th of July is because of the freedom, relaxation, and fun that we have when in truth we always have the ability to feel that way, any time of day...and this is the feeling that allows us to manifest more easily and to live the kind of life that we are meant to...so just remember that this is the way that life is suppose to be.
happy 4th of july!
